Here at Cryals Farm we practice sustainable farming methods. For example, we adhere to the 9 core principles of Integrated Farm Management (IFM) and we’re proud to be LEAF accredited. Subsequently, we can show continuous improvement over the last few years. That won’t be stopping any time soon!
LEAF: LINKING ENVIRONMENT AND FARMING
Linking Environment And Farming (or LEAF for short) is a leading global organisation delivering more sustainable food and farming. Here at Cryals Farm we’re fully LEAF accredited. LEAF works with farmers, the food industry, scientists and consumers to inspire and enable sustainable farming. It helps farmers produce good food, with care and to high environmental standards by developing and promoting the sustainable farming practices of Integrated Farm Management (IFM).
LEAF WORKS IN THREE CORE AREAS
- Facilitating knowledge generation and exchange. Specifically, amongst farmers and researchers through LEAF’s network of demonstration Farms and Innovation Centres, farm business management tools and events.
- Developing Market Opportunities through the LEAF Marque Standard.
- And finally, engaging the public in sustainable farming and food through Open Farm Sunday, Open Farm School Days, resources and training.

The LEAF Marque:
This standard is an environmental assurance system recognising sustainably farmed products. As such, when you see The LEAF Marque Standard logo you can be sure it comes from a farm practising sustainable agriculture. It has been developed in consultation with scientists, the farming industry and conservation groups. Moreover, it reflects the most up to date understanding of internationally accepted sustainable farm management science and management based around Integrated Farm Management. (IFM).

INTEGRATED FARM MANAGEMENT (IFM)
We employ this whole farm business approach as it delivers more sustainable farming. IFM uses the best of modern technology and traditional methods. Above all, they deliver prosperous farming that enriches the environment and engages local communities. LEAF’s IFM is made up of nine core principles which address the entire farming business. They include; soil and water management, energy efficiency, crop health and protection and landscape and nature conservation.
At Charrington’s we have always been dedicated to growing the best quality apples (first and foremost we’re a supplier of Class 1 eating apples to the supermarkets). While at the same time, protecting and carefully managing our farm environment.
VISIT LEAFOUR PRODUCTS
We make delicious ciders, juices and crisps her at Cryals Farm, all made exclusively from the beautiful apples we grow and hand-pick on our LEAF accredited farm.
