There’s a lot happening in March!

We’re already mid way through  Fairtrade Fortnight and  Food waste action week starts today. Both are particularly poignant for us. You wouldn’t buy coffee that wasn’t fair trade, but our home-grown apples are getting a raw deal as revealed by the BBC last week. It’s not news to us sadly and we need your local support more than ever.

Our mission for the last decade has been all taste, no waste and making every apple we grow count. In fact our juice and cider journey started because we could not accept that our best apples would become waste just because they were too big to fit the supermarket pack. Your support means we have great alternatives to selling to the big supermarkets and everything you buy locally or direct from the grower returns directly back to farms and the community. There’s no crime in shopping in a supermarket, but please look for British Grown and tell your supermarket they can help deal much better with food waste and fair trade by simply making sure that more money goes back to the grower. Recent studies from Sustain have shown how less than 1% comes back to farm with the grower taking all the risk. It’s not sustainable without us all getting behind the change in all these combined ways.
